GRETA LEEMING ROBINSON - Director of Greta Leeming Studio, a former professional dancer, established the Greta Leeming Studio of Dance in Nepean in 1962. Registered teacher and Life Member of the Royal Academy of Dance, Life Member of the Canadian Dance Teachers Association, and recipient of a Millennium Award of the City of Nepean
TAMI-LYNN CALOIA – Co-Director, Accredited A.D.A.P.T. Teacher (Tap)
Extensively trained in jazz and tap for over 20 years and is currently in her 23rd year of teaching at GLS. Tami-Lynn has a long standing reputation of quality teaching, outstanding choreography and supporting and working within the local community theatre. In addition to her own accolades many of her students have gone on to achieve much success whether it be on the stage/screen or teaching professionals like herself. Tami-Lynn is also an experienced ajudicator who never tires of trying to inspire the young dancer.
DEBORAH ARMSTRONG – RAD Registered, ARAD and Solo Seal
Debby joined GLS following a stellar career in South Africa. Debby most recently owned her own studio and is a professional ballerina with a wide repertoire of productions. Debby has choreographed extensively for competitions in South Africa and adds to the international flair of GLS.
MARIE BRISLINGER – A.D.A.P.T (Adv. Jazz and Tap), ARAD
Marie Brislinger trained at our studio for 15 years, and holds her Advanced II RAD Ballet certificate. Marie has attained the advanced level in jazz and tap and has been successful in many competitions as a dancer/choreographer. She also recently completed her second year of the ADAPT teacher’s training course.
LOUISE DARLING - B.A., Registered Teacher R.A.D. (Ballet), Certified STOTT Pilates Instructor
Ms. Darling holds her teaching diploma and is a member of The Royal Academy of Dance. She has taught Ballet in the Ottawa area for over 25 years and directed her own Ballet studio for 15 years. Her students have enjoyed many successes including careers in teaching Ballet and in the Performing Arts. Ms. Darling has over 10 years experience in teaching Pilates, holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and Law and is fully bilingual in french and english.
LAURIE FARRELL - Accredited A.D.A.P.T. Teacher (Jazz)
Trained in Ottawa. Highly experienced teacher and choreographer, specializing in technical jazz classes for the younger student in preparation for A.D.A.P.T. exams. Teacher of the Multi Award Group G-Tribe. Choreographer for Canada/Shanghai 1997 Dance Troupe.
SOFIA FERRAROTTO – Professional Dancer/Aerialist, Full Member R.A.D, (Ballet), A.D.A.P.T. Adv. (Jazz & Tap) Sofia trained for 15 years at our studio in Ballet, Jazz & Tap and became a professional dancer, trained aerialist (Cirque du Soleil) & choreographer. She has worked for Tokyo Disney Sea, Japan as a featured soloist and has travelled around the world dancing for Celebrity Cruise Lines. She performed in a HipHop production at the Sands Casino in Macau, China as well as in a music video for the artist ‘Seal' and being featured in a ‘Doritos' commercial. While at our studio, she won the ADA National Title of Senior Dancer of the Year, Can-Dance National Teen & National Senior Dancer & a “Young Choreographer” Award. Along with teaching various dance workshops, Sofia's professional career has led her to be featured in numerous TV & magazine advertisements around the world. Presently, she is working towards her Nutrition, Wellness, & Fitness Specialist Certification.
HELEN GAGNE (Ballet) - Dip. R.B.S. (T.T.C.), A.R.A.D.
Trained in England, Helen attended The Arts Educational School (Tring Park) for 9 years as a full-time student, and later graduated from the prestigious Royal Ballet School. A highly qualified dancer and teacher, she has over 20 years experience teaching all ages and levels, including 18 years as part of the teaching faculty here at Greta Leeming. Helen has been a member of the R.A.D. since 1984, is a Registered R.A.D. teacher, and also holds her Teacher’s Diploma in Benesh Movement Notation, from the Benesh Institute of Choreology.
KIMBERLEY IM - E.C.E., Accredited A.D.A.P.T. Teacher (Tap)
Kim has trained extensively in Tap, Jazz and Ballet at our studio. She has taught for 10 years in the Ottawa area, where her students have been very successful in examinations and competitions. Kim was awarded Young Choreographer of the Year consecutively for three years and is a multiple Dance off winner. She continues to be recognized for her outstanding choreography and was a member of our own GLS Competitive Team.
LESLIE JAEGGIN - B.A.(Hon.), B. Ed., A.D.I.S.T.D. , Full Member R.A.D., (Ballet, Jazz, Hip Hop)
Leslie has taught Jazz, Ballet, Modern, Musical Theatre & Hip Hop in Ottawa & Toronto area for 18 years. Leslie has trained in London, England and attended workshops in NYC and Toronto. Leslie is currently a co-director of a dance program at a local high school. She has enjoyed great success competitively and has been a proud GLS teacher for over 10 years.
JENNIFER MERKLINGER - B.Ed., Accredited A.D.A.P.T. Teacher (Jazz)
Jen is a member of the Royal Academy of Dance. She trained at GLS for 17 years in Ballet, Jazz and Tap and competed for our own GLS competitive team. Throughout the years, Jen has attained much success through her competitive work and choreography. She is also recognized for achieving excellence through her examination work and ADAPT training.
AMANDA PIETRANTONIO - A.D.A.P.T. (Jazz, Tap)
Amanda trained at our studio since the age of 3 in tap, jazz and ballet and has been an assistant for 7 of those years. Amanda attained the advanced level in tap and jazz and is currently in her second year as a member of our teaching staff. She has been a tireless volunteer in all aspects of the studio and is a leader in her work with the GLS competitive team. Amanda was a big part of our own GLS competitive team and achieved much success through her performances.
PHILIPPA WIGGALL - B.A.(Hon.)Ballet, Registered Teacher R.A.D., L.R.A.D.
Hailing originally from the UK, Miss Wiggall earned a degree in the Art and Teaching of Ballet from the prestigious Royal Academy of Dance in London. She also received the designation of Licentiate of the R.A.D. She is trained in RAD ballet, Laban Notation and ISTD Modern. Miss Wiggall has taught and choreographed for competitions, recitals and theatre performances in the UK and Canada for the past ten years. She has taught Jazz, Hip Hop, Modern, Musical Theatre & Pilates, in addition to Ballet and is an official "Salsa Babies" Instructor.
PING FENG - Graduted from the School of Beijing Dance Academy, Mr. Feng joined the Beijing Dance Academy Ballet Company in 1979 and was the soloist in the company. He started ballet teaching and choreograph while studying in the Beijing Dance Academy towards his BA degree in Dance. After he came to Canada, Mr. Feng danced with Ottawa Ballet and Ballets Jazz de Montreal for many years. He taught company ballet class while in Ballets Jazz. Mr. Feng has been teaching at GLS for 15 years.
LIBBY DAVEY - Hip Hop
Libby is an accomplished contemporary, hip hop, jazz, and lyrical dancer and a GLS alumni. Presently a student at the University of Ottawa studying Psychology and Anthropology, she also spends her time performing and training with the DRIVEN Dance Company and the GeeGees Competitive Dance Team. Libby began as a competitive gymnast before a successful run with our GLS Competitive team. We are thrilled to have Libby back at GLS to share her enthusiam for dance with our students.
ARIANE MICHAUD - RAD and A.D.A.P.T. (Ballet and Jazz)
Ariane has trained at our studio since 1999 and is on our competitive team. She has been an assistant in ballet for 5 years and a replacement teacher in ballet, jazz, and tap since 2010. Ariane has won many awards for her dancing, including completing the RAD graded program and Intermediate with Distinction, and continues to prepare her teacher’s qualifications in Advanced 1-2. She was also a recipient of the highest marks from the external examiners in the Arts Canterbury dance program in her grade last year on both her ballet and modern examinations.
DOMINIC ANDERSEN - A.D.A.P.T (Adv. Jazz and Tap)
Dominic first trained as a competitive gymnast for 5 years before starting dance at the age of 12. She trained at GLS in ballet, jazz and tap for 6 years, attaining Advanced levels in all disciplines. Dominic has been teaching and choreographing at the studio for 5 years and awarded Young Choreographer of the Year consecutively for three years. In addition to teaching, Dominic is a recent graduate from the University of Ottawa and is now on her way to teacher’s college.
NICOLAS NAJM - (Hip Hop)
Nicolas began training in Hip-Hop dance in 2005 with Culture Shock Ottawa’s Youth Outreach Program. He graduated to Future Shock and, in turn, to Culture Shock. In 2008, he founded and began directing one of Ottawa’s up and coming dance crew’s, dTALE. He’s also taught Hip-Hop at various dance studios around Ottawa. Directing his own crew and being appointed a role in the Artistic Development of Culture Shock Ottawa, he is still only beginning his journey as a dancer.
GABRIELA MANEIRO - (Tap)
Gabriela (Gaby) has been dancing at GLS for the past 10 years in Tap, Jazz and Ballet. She has received her Grade 8 Classical Ballet Certificate, with Distinction and she is currently training towards receiving her Advanced Ballet, Tap and Jazz levels. Gabriela has enjoyed the position as a Teacher’s Assistant in Ballet for the past 2 years and she has been very successful as part of the GLS competitive team.
MADISON VAN DALEN - (Tap, Jazz, Ballet)
Madison is a passionate dancer having trained in all aspects of dance since the age of three. She is currently pursuing the highest level of examinations in jazz, tap and ballet. Maddi has been an assistant since the age of fourteen and this past year was a substitute teacher for the studio. She is a successful member of the GLS competitive team and this year was nominated for Cappie Awards for both her dancing and choreography in her high school’s musical.
JANINE RAMSARUP - (Tap, Jazz, Hip Hop)
Janine has trained at GLS for the past 15 years in all forms of dance. Janine was a member of the GLS competitive team for many years and had the chance to work with many teachers and choreographers throughout her years with us. Janine has achieved success through her work and choreography with various dance groups through her high school. Janine is remaining in Ottawa to pursue teaching and further her schooling.
